A diode limiter circuit is a circuit that uses two end to end diodes to allow only limited part of the amplitude to pass through and blocking the others. The following shows the circuit diagram.
The input signal is a 1V amplitude 1kHz sine wave signal. As it passes through the diode limiter circuit, only the amplitude within -0.6V to +0.6V is allowed to pass through. This can be seen in the graph in the picture.The resistor R1 of 1kohm is current limiting resistor. Such clamp circuit is often used as input protection for a high gain amplifier.
